Today I have an interview with David Petersen, the creator of the critically acclaimed recent comic series Mouse Guard from Archaia Comics.  If you want to find out more about him, you can visit his site here, and his blog here.

I first heard about this series through a number of reviews I had read around the internet. I didn’t think much of it. Then, at the end of the 2008 Baltimore City Comic-Con I was making one more round of the tables when I came across Peterson with his last copy of Fall 1152, the first graphic novel. I bought it on a whim, and David even signed it for me.

When I read it later, I was blown away by what I saw: Mice  fighting predators that dwarf them in size, epic battles between massive armies, and a story of political intrigue and heroism that few summer blockbusters can match. Not bad for a book about mice with swords.

I went back this year and found David again. I got Winter 1152, the next volume in the series and was astonished at how he was able to not only live up to the first volume, but even raising it to a higher level.
